Jordan Tate came from a professional family and entered aviation through aircraft operations and private-flight logistics. He built Onyx to replace the fragmented charter experience with a controlled, membership-based service. The company initially relied heavily on leased aircraft before acquiring the seven-aircraft fleet now associated with the brand. Tate remains the controlling shareholder and represents first-generation multimillionaire wealth rather than inherited aviation money.
Onyx Air is the private aviation company of the universe. Based out of Avalon Heights with operations across all domestic cities and international destinations, it operates a fleet of seven aircraft in varying sizes to accommodate anything from a solo business traveler to a full group charter. The name is the brand: dark, precise, and expensive. Onyx does not advertise publicly. New clients come through referrals from existing members or through concierge relationships with The Grandeur Collection, Pacifica Trust Group, and Elite Sports and Talent Management.
Booking Onyx is not complicated once you have access. The client portal allows members to request a jet, specify the configuration, and receive confirmation within the hour for domestic flights. International requests are confirmed within four hours. A dedicated flight coordinator is assigned to each client for the duration of any trip.
Fleet of Seven:
Obsidian — Ultra-long-range heavy jet. Seats up to 14. Configured for transatlantic and transpacific flights. Private bedroom suite, full galley, satellite connectivity. Used for the Zaraan and Seonjin routes primarily.
Raven — Long-range heavy jet. Seats up to 12. Full stand-up cabin, lounge configuration, dedicated flight attendant. The flagship domestic configuration.
Eclipse — Long-range super-midsize jet. Seats up to 10. Preferred for Caribbean and European routes given the balance of range and cabin comfort.
Phantom — Super-midsize jet. Seats up to 9. The most frequently booked aircraft in the fleet; handles the majority of domestic city pairs.
Noir — Midsize jet. Seats up to 7. Efficient for shorter domestic routes and smaller groups.
Void — Light jet. Seats up to 6. Used for quick turnaround domestic routes and last-minute bookings.
Slate — Very light jet. Seats up to 4. Solo executive travel, quick hops between nearby cities, and situations where discretion and speed matter more than cabin size.
Domestic Operations: Onyx Air flies between all six domestic cities on demand. No fixed schedule — every flight is chartered. Ground transportation coordination available at all destinations through the client portal.
International Operations: All four international destinations are served. Obsidian handles Zaraan and Seonjin given range requirements. Raven and Eclipse handle Île Sainte-Coeur, Calverne, and Nyumbani.
Base Locations: Primary operations at Avalon Heights Private Aviation Terminal. Aircraft positioned at Cedar Bay, Hayter Pointe, and Lakewood Falls for faster domestic response times.
Clientele: Athletes, executives, legacy family members, entertainment industry principals, and high-net-worth individuals across all six cities. Several Mahogany Music Group artists and Elite Sports and Talent Management clients are Onyx members.
